Illness Policy
Children exhibiting a persistent cough or runny nose with colored discharge may be sent home if symptoms suggest illness, are disruptive to the child’s comfort, or pose a risk to others
Fever 100°F and over: child must stay home
Child must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning
Symptoms requiring doctor’s note:
Temperature 101°F
Eye discharge/ redness/ swelling
Unknown rash
Exception: Common, non-contagious rashes such as diaper-area irritation (groin area) or documented eczema/ skin conditions may be permitted, provided the child is otherwise well and able to participate in daily activities. *The center reserves the right to determine if a rash may need a physician’s clearance or require exclusion for the health and safety of others.
While a doctor’s clearance note may be provided, The Giving Tree Preschool Centers reserves the right to determine whether a child is well enough to return to care. The Director (or designated staff) may request that your child remain at home if the child still appears ill, contagious, or unable to participate comfortably in daily activities.
This decision is made in the best interest of the health and safety of all children and staff.
Children medicated on fever reducing and/or (diphenhydramine) Benadryl medications will not be accepted to attend. All children in attendance must be able and ready for the daily activities.
